Beach Horseback Riding
Enjoy the beach on horseback with Paternoster’s beach rides. Available to all levels of riding ability, a gentle stride to sound of crashing waves or a gallop through the fresh blue water, connecting with a horse is your chance to rewind.
Beach Buggy Tour
Experience Paternoster’s wildlife with a guided tour in a beach buggy. Learn about flora, fauna and the wonderful biodiversity the coast has to offer. You may come across dolphins, whales or the more common candidates- duikers, tortoises and birds of every kinds and color!
Guided Kayak Tour
There’s no better way to experience the wonders of the Atlantic Ocean than rocking on top of it in a double kayak. Trips depart early in the morning at the Paternoster Wharf. Sight penguin colonies, seal families and the surprises of the great blues!
Riverboat Bird Safari
Sight your feathered favourites on a trip down Velddrif’s Berg River. Learn to capture many of the 150 bird species that call the river their home, guided by a National Geographic photographer and environmental educator. From flamingos and pelicans to herons and cranes, this area houses 10% of the world’s bird species.
Guided Bush Hike
Experience the seasonal wonders of the coast with a guided bush hike available in October and November. Catch the change to sight dolphins, whales, seals or penguins among the many birds and flowers that are guaranteed to cross your path.
West Coast National Park
Visit our coast between mid August to late September to experience flower season, where the West Coast National Park takes on pinks, reds, oranges, yellows, blues and purples. A protected area well worth a visit, take a 45 minute drive from your cottage to nature beauty!
Cape Columbine Lighthouse
Only a 20 minute drive from our cottages is the Cape Columbine nature reserve that features our bay’s renowned lighthouse, functional and accessible all the way to the top. Spend an afternoon marvellous waves splash on coastal boulders as the sun sets on the horizon.
